AGA are seeking dedicated individuals to train in Education Support to support students with a range of low to high Special Needs. Our Education Support trainees will work in the following Schools; whilst earning a wage, gaining hands on experience and completing a qualification.

• Special Development Schools
• Specialist Schools
• Mainstream Schools  

This program is ideal for individuals with long term goals of working in the Education sector, particularly those wishing to pursue Teaching in the future as it will provide 12 months of solid classroom work experience.
 
The program:

• 12 month placement 
• Work one on one with students
• Work 5 x days per week (school hours)
• Learn on the job
• Support children with a range of disabilities and/or special needs
• Earn award wages 
• Attend training during the school holidays to complete a Certificate III Education Support
• Full support and training 
• Government funding available for eligible candidates

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist teaching staff by performing non-teaching duties
• Assist and participate in learning activities
• Support children with special needs with language and literacy
• Prepare learning areas and activities
• Provide individual support to students
• Provide basic physical and emotional care for students such as toileting, meals and lifting
• Assist with the preparation of teaching aids and resources

Skills and Experience: 

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience working with children highly regarded
• Able to follow direction
• Able to work as part of a team

Requirements: Working with Children check (or be prepared to process one)
