HEW 7, $83,151 - $90,006 per annum. This is a full time, fixed term contract until 30 June 2019.

About the Role
The key focus of the Apprenticeship Support Officer (ASO) is to improve retention and employment outcomes for apprentices by providing mentoring and pastoral care, with a particular focus on apprentices in their first year, between the ages of 15 and 24. The ASO will be required to ensure apprentices are made aware of the three-way contractual relationship their apprentice creates, as well as providing apprentices with contact, information, referral and advocacy services. Authentic and accurate records will need to be maintained using specified systems and processes and reports, briefs and correspondence on complex issues that may impact at program or organisational level will need to be prepared. State-wide travel will be required, and a company vehicle will be provided for this.

About the Person
You will have excellent communication and organisation skills to enable you to effectively operate in this position. You will be able to work independently, using your strong problem solving skills and solid logical thinking to overcome challenges, while also having the ability to work collaboratively as part of a broader team. You have a sound understanding of the Victorian VET sector, including the role of both RTO’s and Australian Apprenticeship Support Networks. You must hold a current E (Employee) Working With Children Check card, as well as a valid driver’s licence to fill this vacancy.

Duties
An example of duties you may perform will include:

  • Ensure successful delivery of an integrated apprenticeship support service consistent with programs objectives.
  • Act as a key liaison and advisor to apprentices during the early stages of their apprenticeship
  • Provide contact, information, referral and advocate services to apprentices
