Regional Advisory Council Members TAFE NSW Regional Advisory Council Members Location: Various within Western Sydney Duration: 12 months TAFE NSW’s purpose is to skill the workforce of the future. Critically, TAFE NSW plays a vital role in providing vocational education in rural and regional NSW, and job training pathways for the most vulnerable in the community. The Opportunity We now have opportunities to become a Regional Advisory Council member in Western Sydney. Advice from our Regional Advisory Councils is an important source of information for the development of TAFE NSW and in the setting of our future strategic directions. The Western Sydney Regional Advisory Council is particularly seeking candidates with networks and experience from the community sector who can provide advice and perspectives of culturally and linguistically diverse communities within the region. In this role and through Council meetings, members will be required to convey the needs of TAFE NSW’s customers to the TAFE Commission Board and the TAFE NSW Managing Director to support the planning and delivery of courses and services. The Councils will inform and support TAFE NSW’s focus on meeting the needs of the customer including industry, enterprise, community and students. We are looking to recruit council members from regional locations, backgrounds and life experiences who have a passion for vocational education and relevant key local issues. Candidates will be selected based on their expertise and experience in relation to the membership category for which they are applying. Membership categories are as follows: Small – medium enterprise Major industry sector e.g. manufacturing, agribusiness, tourism, technology Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representative Community / NGO representative Miscellaneous e.g. higher education or secondary education, local government, major industry associations or business chamber, student, youth organisations Opportunities for a Chairman and Council members will be available for each Regional Advisory Council in the following locations: Western Sydney This is a great opportunity to work in partnership with the leading skills provider in the state and to provide feedback on relevant industry matters. Council members will be remunerated with a nominal fee and reimbursement for travel and accommodation. These positions are also targeted for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people under Government Sector Employment Rule 26.
