The AccessAbility Advisor is the main point of contact and support for students with a disability seeking adjustments to enable them to participate fully in their studies at the Australian College of Applied Psychology.

They will be responsible for assessing the adjustments needed for individual students with disabilities, communicating these adjustments to relevant stakeholders within ACAP and coordinating the provision of the appropriate services and support needed.

The role reports to the National Manager Student Learning Support and works closely with the other members of the AccessAbility service, discipline staff, campus administration and recruitment to ensure that students with disabilities are provided with appropriate support.

 

The candidate we are looking for will ideally have:

  • Relevant experience in an Adult Education and/or Disability environment
  • Advanced communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously in a high case-load environment
  • Sound knowledge of relevant
    • Disability Discrimination and Privacy Legislation
    • Adult education processes, procedures and systems
    • Detailed knowledge of a wide range of disabilities and their effects
  • Ability to build rapport and liaise with multi-level stakeholders
  • Applicants from a disability or carers background, combined with personal and professional experience in higher education
  • Working knowledge of the MS Office suite
