This position takes ownership for the delivery of high quality academic programs within the discipline, and in collaboration with other disciplines where relevant, ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.

The Discipline Chair is responsible for overseeing course development, curriculum development and quality of courses. Taking a lead role in faculty appointments and performance, and mentoring and support of discipline academics.

This role contributes to educational leadership at the national and international level, relations with relevant professional and regulatory agencies, and the research culture of discipline.  At the College level, the Discipline Chair is responsible for contributing to the governance and academic leadership of the institution, including provision of strategic advice to the Dean and General Manager.

External to the College, the Discipline Chair will actively engage with the wider professional, commercial and/or industrial communities to build and maintain partnerships and networks. The Discipline Chair will also represent ACAP in academic and professional fora.

 

The person we are seeking will ideally have the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline
  • Professorial appointment
  • Significant experience in the delivery of higher education programs of study
  • Knowledge of relevant academic and professional accreditation standards
  • Previous senior academic leadership experience in a higher education provider
