Location Profile


Hazel Glen Kindergarten, located in the Hazel Glen Child & Family Centre, opened in 2015 and forms part of Hazel Glen College, situated in Doreen in the City of Whittlesea. Our service offers 3 year old kindergarten, 4 year old kindergarten and an Extended Care Program.

Selection Criteria


KSC 1   An understanding and experience in implementing the NQS and EYLF/VEYLDF and play based learning.

KSC 2   Demonstrated initiative and commitment to team work.

KSC 3   Excellent communication skills with children, parents, other educators and management.

KSC 4   Experience in assessing and documenting children’s learning.

KSC 5   A commitment to ongoing professional development.

Role


We are now looking for staff to join our team. This role is for a Kindergarten Assistant to relieve other staff for breaks and other duties as required by the Centre Director. It will include working in all of our Kindergarten rooms. It is a part time position of 28.5 hours across five days.

Responsibilities


Maintain positive interactions with children and staff in a sensitive and respectful way

Supporting staff and children in any given situation

Provide a program that is flexible in regards to individual children

Effective verbal and written communication skills

Demonstrate continued enthusiasm and passion in working with children

Development relationships with children and families

Protection of the health, safety, security and well-being of all children and staff within the service

Ensure duties and responsibilities are performed in accordance with relevant policies, procedures and regulatory requirements

Children are supervised at all times

Understanding the essence of inclusion of diversity in its many forms

Respect for and maintain of confidentiality of information.  Maintain an excellent standard of organisation, hygiene and cleanliness of program premises and facilities.

Administer and adhere to policy and procedures that ensure the health and safety of those using the service.

Maintain security procedures for the acceptance and release of children.

Operate service in accordance with the National Standards for Extended Care Program.

Develop and maintain a positive partnership with parents and guardians. This involves greeting parents on their arrival at the service and informing them of any relevant information regarding their children and listening to and actioning, where necessary, parent/guardian feedback.
