Position Information

Lalor Park Public School is a unique setting with a multi layered educational landscape. The school has an enrolment of 181 students, inclusive of a preschool, mainstream and support unit. Based at the school are the Itinerant Hearing Team and an Assistant Principal Learning and Support. These specialised staff provide support to students, staff and families across the Metropolitan North Operational Directorate.

The school has developed a dynamic learning community with dedicated staff committed to continuous improvement in learning outcomes through quality teaching practices and programs. Lalor Park Public School is a Phase 2 Early Action for Success (EAfS) school with an emphasis on embedding the three-tiered model of support and ensuring that foundational skills of literacy and numeracy underpin all teaching and learning programs across all Key Learning Areas.


Within the school, the Positive Behaviour for Learning framework underpins the school's philosophy, ensuring staff students and their families are safe, respectful, responsible learners.

Selection Criteria

In addition to the general selection criteria,

1.  Approval to teach students with learning and support needs (primary) and/or experience teaching students with learning and support needs (primary) in regular classes. 

2. Capacity to innovate, problem solve and develop creative solutions to current trends and emerging issues in education.

3. Sound knowledge and commitment to relevant policies, with an understanding of the learning and support framework including relevant disability legislation and the Disability Standards for Education.

4. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team to enhance the capacity of school based staff, including Learning and Support Teams, in the development and implementation of systems, processes and adjusted programs. 

General Selection Criteria

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
