Position Information
Cheltenham Girls’ High School with an enrolment of 1330 students, including 69% students from a non-English speaking background, is a leading comprehensive girls school with strong traditions. The school is committed to providing all students with opportunities to achieve excellence in all areas of student achievement. The school has a dedicated and highly experienced staff, and articulate and involved parents. School strategic directions include strengthening the partnership between the school and the community, supporting literacy and curriculum differentiation for all students across all key learning areas and supporting the delivery of high quality teaching in every classroom. This position involves working collaboratively with teams to support whole school organisational, curriculum and student based services.
Selection Criteria
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
Ability to design and implement whole school organisational processes including timetabling for a diverse range of curriculum patterns and staff expertise, with flexibility to accommodate the emerging student needs.
Capacity to lead and implement curriculum compliance with senior students including assessment processes, subject selections, disability provisions and NESA requirements.
Proven ability to collaborate with an experienced executive team to drive the school strategic directions through the implementation of whole school programs that support student engagement, student wellbeing and a culture of excellence for the full range of students including those from non-English speaking backgrounds.
An exemplary classroom practitioner and proven highly effective communication skills that promote engaging programs and build positive relationships with staff parents and the wider community.
General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
