Meredith Primary School requires an energetic and enthusiastic child care professional with a minimum Diploma in early childhood education and care or equivalent or be studying their bachelor of education and be it their third year. Other mandatory requirements required -  Level 4 First Aid including Asthma and Anaphylaxis training, Working With Children Check, Completed mandatory reporting unit, Level 2 food handling certificate.

The hours for this position are Monday to Friday 2:45pm - 6.00pm.
There will be an opportunity to extend hours if applicant decides to take on coordination of before school care program once it is established.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES


1. EFFECTIVELY MANAGE THE OUTSIDE SCHOOL HOURS CARE PROGRAM
 

  • Plan, implement and evaluate a stimulating and diverse program relevant to the development needs of children attending the program including those with additional needs.
  • Use resources effectively.
    Establish and apply appropriate strategies that encourage positive behaviour.
  • Administer procedures that ensure the health and safety of those using the program.
    Attend outside school hours training
  • Operate a service within the National Quality Framework.
    Manage the participation in the ACECQA Quality Assurance program so as to maintain satisfactory standards.
  •  Supervise assistants, additional workers and volunteers. 
  • Possess high level interpersonal and problem solving skills.

  • The Child Safe Standards
  • National Quality Standards and
  • My Time, Our Place, Framework for School Age Care in Australia.

         
2. COMMUNICATION AND LIAISON WITH FAMILIES AND THE COMMUNITY
 

  • Develop and maintain positive partnership with parents, guardians and family members.  This involves appropriate greeting with parents and informing them of relevant information regarding their children.
  • Provide program updates for school council and newsletter.
  • Inclusion support agencies

4. ADMINISTRATION
 

  • Manage the CCSS claims for the program using QIKKIDS to submit, monitor and report on CCSS claims. 
  • Keep accurate records related to the operation of the program as required by school council and funding departments.
  • Assist in the preparation and monitoring of the annual budget.
  • Keep accident and medical records as required by national standards.
  • Be familiar with medical details of children attending the program and advise staff of same.
  • Collect evidence and documentation as part of the ACECQA quality assurance program.
     

5. QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must hold (or be in the process of completing) - 

  • Diploma in early childhood education and care or equivalent.
  • Studying a bachelor of education and in their 3rd year.
  • Level 4 First Aid including Asthma and Anaphylaxis training.
  • Working With Children Check.
  • Completed mandatory reporting unit
  • Level 2 food handling certificate.

SC1. A demonstrated ability to plan and provide a stimulating and engaging OSHC program taking into account the developmental needs and stages of children aged 4 - 12 years including those children with additional needs.

SC2. A demonstrated knowledge of, and experience with the application of the National Quality Framework including the; Education and Care Services National Law, Education and Care Services National Regulations, National Quality Standard, and My Time, Our Place, Framework for School Age Care in Australia and the Child Safe Standards.

SC4. The ability to manage time, planning his/her own work to achieve set objectives in the most efficient and effective way.

SC5. Demonstrated high level oral and written communication skills.

SC6. Possess skills in the use of Qikkids software, management of email accounts and management of CCSS, Inclusion support portal, AUSKey, PRODA and NQA ITS.
