Position Information

Banksmeadow Public School is located in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney and currently has 275 students enrolled across Kindergarten to Year 6, including three Support Classes for students with autism and moderate intellectual disability. Currently 22% of students have a language background other than English. The school has a Department of Education Preschool catering for 40 places. Banksmeadow Public School is comprised of experienced and early career teachers, and the leadership team consists of four Assistant Principals. Staff work collaboratively with an active, supportive community to provide a positive, caring and stimulating learning environment. Educational programs are provided to cater for all students' academic, physical and social development. Current school priorities include literacy, numeracy, future-focused  learner qualities, student wellbeing, performing arts and sport. Banksmeadow Public School works closely with the Botany Bay Preschool Community of Schools, as well as with local business.

Selection Criteria

Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students K-6 with complex needs, including autism, moderate intellectual disability and challenging behaviours.

Demonstrated excellence in the ability to design and implement differentiated teaching and learning programs which facilitate the engagement and improved learning outcomes for students.

Proven classroom management skills in working with students with special needs and a capacity to implement effective behaviour support strategies for individual students.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and flexibly with support unit staff, mainstream teachers, parent/carers and external agencies.
