About the business and the role

Smart Start Early Learning and Development Centre is privately owned and managed, purpose built childcare centre. The centre opened in 2010 and is known as a high quality centre in the Alphington /Fairfield community.The centre employs professional, suitably qualified and experienced staff that deliver the high quality program to children and families. We have 7 rooms that cater for babies' right through to kindergarten.

At Smart Start we believe every child has the ability to learn and develop, our Early Childhood Educators understand that each child has a unique approach to learning. Our teaching philosophy involves developing and maintaining a partnership with Children, Families, Community, Early Educators and the Environment as equal and respected contributors to a child's journey in learning and development.

As a support educator you are responsible for supporting the group leader in caring for the health, safety, wellbeing and education of the children.  You are required to implement and facilitate the program under the direction of the group leader or in their absence.  You are required to provide a nurturing, caring and stimulating environment for children and their families ensuring your practice is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework and National Quality Framework. 

    Job tasks and responsibilities

    Role requirements:

    • Contribute to the implementation of high quality educational programs and practice.
    • Provide quality care and an inclusive safe and healthy environment.
    • Interact, educate and engage with children.
    • Engage and collaborate with families and children.
    • Support staff and a promote a cooperative and collaborative team environment.
    • Comply with and exceed the National Quality Framework, Early Years Learning Framework, Policies, Centre Philosophy and values.

    Skills and experience

    Essential Criteria:

    • Minimum 1 year experience in a childcare enviroment 
    • Minimum Certificate 3 Early Childhood Qualifications
    • Current Working with Children's Check
    • Current Level 2 First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis training
    • Mandatory Reporting - Child Protection Training
