About the role
As a Specialist Driver Trainer you will be responsible for conducting instruction and assessment utilising various adult learning principles under the Australian Quality Framework.
You will be part of a highly motivated team which provides quality delivery of a variety of driver and ancillary heavy equipment training. This will include areas such as familiarisation of new vehicle features and techniques which will be delivered in large and small training groups.
Successful applicants will be required to undergo full training over a two week period before being deemed qualified as an instructor with our organisation. Upon successful completion of the course, the applicant will be mentored for a suitable period of time until confident with the delivery of the course material.

- Certificate IV Training and Assessment (TAE40110)
- LLN (TAELLN411)
- Heavy Combination License
- TLI41216 – Certificate IV in Transport and Logistics (Road Transport – Car Driving Instruction)
- Qld Transport Accredited Driver Trainer License
Key responsibilities
- Support the induction and training of new employees
- Train and re-assess current students to comply with Commonwealth requirements & standards
- Ensure competency based training & assessing includes (all aspects of driver activity, WH&S and vehicle presentation
- Implementation and delivery of training plans in an operationally pertinent, efficient and compliant manner whilst ensuring daily operational impacts are minimised
- Ensure results are achieved by using both formal and informal processes to monitor training effectiveness
- Monitor compliance and improve performance
- Actively participate in Safety Improvement Team meetings
- Comply with national process & standards
- Administration of training & assessment records
- Partner in the development and deployment of innovative approaches or technologies to drive continuous improvement
Skills & Experience
- Demonstrated commitment to safety
- 3-5 years' experience in a similar driver training role or heavy vehicle operator would be preferable
- HC License as a Minimum requirement
- Off-road and vehicle recovery experience (desirable but not essential)
- Previous check-able experience in HR, HC operation
- Enthusiastic and organised approach to work, with a can-do attitude.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment as well being able to work autonomously
- Experience with self loading vehicle and crane (desirable but not essential)
