We have two exciting new casual roles available:

Job 1: Specialist Literacy Tutor
Are you an enthusiastic, passionate teacher with special education or literacy tutoring experience? Would you like a casual role that fits around your interests and allows you to make a lasting impact on children’s lives?

Your role will primarily involve providing specialist literacy tuition to primary age pupils with learning difficulties, such as dyslexia and dysgraphia, in a 1:1, duo and possibly small group.

Full in-depth training by a leading specialist in learning difficulties will be provided to the right candidate.  Opportunities to progress to more senior position may also be available.

The successful applicant will be required to:

  • work a minimum of 8 teaching hours per week over 2 days (Wednesday afternoon and Saturday morning) during school terms.
  • be flexible and able to expand your hours and days according to enrolment growth.
  • occasionally assist in additional casual work.
  • have effective communication and organisational skills to take enquiries, manage timetables and liaise with parents and staff.
  • complete 30 hours of paid specialist training.
  • develop a positive relationships with parents and children.

The successful candidate will have positive, friendly and bubbly personality and be both proactive and encouraging. Qualifications and experience in Special Education highly regarded but not essential.

You must hold an education degree and preferably a post-graduate qualification or further training in multi-sensory literacy programs.

Job 2: Educational Psychologist

We are specifically looking for a nurturing and compassionate psychologist who is able to develop a good rapport with all age groups to provide diagnostic assessments in the field of learning difficulties.

Your role will involve:

  • Consultations with parents
  • Providing diagnostic assessments of children and adolescents with SLD such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia and ADHD/ADD.
  • Excellent report writing skills with recommendations.
  • Providing a diagnosis of a range of learning difficulties such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia and ADD/ADHD.
  • The possibility of providing occasional professional learning for teachers, other professionals and parents.
  • A minimum of 1 day per week is required, flexible hours. 

We provide flexibility of hours, being able to do your admin at home, a friendly work place environment.

Required:

  1. Current full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia, and accredited Postgraduate degree in Psychology (preferably Educational and Developmental, Clinical or Neuropsychology).
  2. Demonstrated proficiency in psychological assessments, interview and intervention techniques with individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds. 
  3. Demonstrated capacity to work independently, flexibly, as part of a team, in a clinical role.
  4. Commitment to extend own professional development.

Desirable

  1. Extensive knowledge in the identification and remediation of specific learning disabilities.
  2. Knowledge of professional literature (research).
  3. Experience and knowledge of evidence-based instruction, in particular, for students with specific learning disabilities.
  4. Experience developing and running Professional Learning workshops.
  5. Experience in an educational environment.
