Job no:504788 Area:Office of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) Salary (FTE):Professional Level 04 ($59,429.60 - $63,305.88) Work type:Full Time - Fixed Term Location: Brisbane UQ Biological Resources The University of Queensland Biological Resources Unit (UQBR) manages the laboratory animal production and research facilities for the University of Queensland. The role of UQBR is to provide UQ with world class Animal Research services within a best practice ethical framework. We are currently advertising for an Animal Technical Officers (HEW4) within UQ Biological Resources (BRF) / Translational Research Institute (TRI) animal facility based at Woolloongabba, in Brisbane The role The appointee will provide specialist technical assistance in the areas of rodent production and husbandry, carry out research associated procedures and take part in projects involving animal research conducted by researchers from the University of Queensland. Medical Clearance: Working with laboratory animals is an inherent requirement of the position. Your appointment is therefore subject to, and conditional upon, satisfactory medical clearance(s), including disclosure of relevant medical history, to undertake such work without unreasonable risk to your health and safety. In addition, the Employee is required to fully comply with necessary ongoing health monitoring procedures and control measures associated with the position. The person Applicants should possess qualifications in relevant disciplines. You should also have a strong desire to develop a successful and highly-productive research career in health behaviour, good general research skills, a strong methodological background, excellent statistical and analytic skills, very good writing abilities, and the capacity to work with multidisciplinary research teams. Remuneration This is a full-time, 3 years, fixed term appointment at HEW Level 4. The remuneration package will be in the range $59,429 - $63,305 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $69,532 - $74,067 p.a.).
