About the role

Broadly this role contributes to the overall strategic direction for the Institute and contributes to the design, implementation and monitoring of the Institute's business operations. The CEO-VET is responsible for ensuring an institutional focus on developing and delivering quality vocational education and training outcomes in a flexible, innovative and culturally appropriate way.

Specific Responbilities include  

  1. Provide strategic leadership and directly manage the day-to-day operations of the Institute's VET programs.
  2. Represent the Institute in VET related government, industry and community discussions, committees and working groups
  3. Implement and maintain Vocational Education and Training (VET) standards and conditions that are fully compliant with the requirements of the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) and Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF)
  4. Oversight the design, development, and delivery of the Institute's Registered Training Organisation (RTO) scope including nationally accredited training programs and non-accredited training services to generate revenue.
  5. Regularly review the Institute's training scope to ensure that all training packages meet community and learner cohort needs and the Institute's strategic priorities, as well assess the effectiveness of the training packages on the Institute's training scope, ensuring the Institute meets all standards set out by funding providers in respect for Annual Curriculum Hours (ACH).
  6. Signs appropriate documentation as required (Fit and Proper Person requirements declaration, Chief Executive statutory declaration) and other application forms related to scope of registration and RTO operations, and ensures submission by due dates.
  7. Develop and maintain networks with schools, businesses, employers, community members and organisations to identify vocational education and training needs that align to the Institute's accredited and non-accredited training programs and services.
  8. Ensure that the Institute meets all Australian Vocational Education and Training Management Information Statistical Standards (AVETMISS)
  9. Remain vigilant of industry teaching methodologies, shifts in government policies, sector trends and new developments, and opportunities for entrepreneurship
  10. Oversight the identification, development and implementation of strategies to attract new students to the Institute while also supporting existing students to complete their studies.
  11. Work with other executives and managers within the Institute to achieve high quality outcomes and maintain the ASQA low level of risk profile.
  12. Undertake other duties as appropriate to a Senior Executive position

Skills and experience

  1. Proven capacity to work effectively and cooperatively in culturally diverse teams .
  2. Relevant undergraduate and/or postgraduate qualifications and/or demonstrated professional and leadership experience in VET equivalent to the position.

  5. A demonstrated track record at senior levels in the VET sector, or in a related field with a record of innovation and success in complex environments.
  6. Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of the operational and registration requirements of ASQA as well as track record in leading continuous quality improvement of VET programs
  7. Proven business, commercial and financial acumen and a successful track record in commercial ventures, including making effective and timely commercial and financial decisions.
  8. Demonstrated record of high-level strategic planning, leadership and management in driving performance and delivering timely business outcomes within a multi-site organisation.
  9. Demonstrated experience and effectiveness working with a senior management team to achieve results and an ability to lead diverse teams in an ethical and professional manner.
  10. Proven success in building effective relationships and collaborative partnerships with external stakeholders such as Government, institutions, community groups and industry groups.
