About the business and the role

Houston's Farm are a Tasmanian family owned and operated business located throughout the Coal River Valley. We grow fresh baby lettuce and herbs and aim to provide the highest quality fresh baby salad leaves for retail.

Over the years since the horticulture farm commencement in the 1980s, Houston's Farm have developed techniques for growing, harvesting and processing baby leaves resulting in a premium product which is sought after for its quality, flavour and freshness. 

Reporting directly to the Team Leader, you will work within a variety of Houston's Farm's factory processing teams and roles and/or work individually as directed to contribute to the overall success of the daily processing operations.

Job tasks and responsibilities

• General Processing set up and pack up tasks.
• Operate Machinery.
• Use Propack vertical form fill bagging machines.
• Use Ishida multi weigh head weighers
• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures.
• Wear PPE as required.
• Follow Personal Hygiene requirementsa that apply in each area.
• Identify continuous improvement opportunities.

Skills and experience

• Propack vertical form fill experience
• Ishida multi weigh head weigher experience.
• Motivated.
• Team player.
• Reliable.

• Detail Oriented.
• Safety Focussed.
• Ability to communicate with a diverse workforce.
• Ability to maintain paper records relevant to the task.
• Ability to work unsupervised when required.
• Ability to perform reasonable overtime hours where required to complete operational and business objectives.
• Ability to work as part of a weekend and holiday roster during busy periods.
• Exposure to Lean Manufacturing would be an advantage.
