Our client is extremely well known (you see them almost everyday) and is part of a huge international business; in Australia it is a definitive market leader in a very fast moving industry segment where service and competitive pricing are the prime and sometimes conflicting requirements. The company has a strong distribution network comprised of both franchisees and company owned operations and is considered a highly successful business in a growing market place; it is considered a desirable employer with a national footprint.
The organisation is undergoing significant growth and due to the incumbent taking a promotion to head office, one of the most exciting positions in the company has become available. This position whilst not limited to does include:
- Ensure the company is utilising the most modern distribution techniques
- Distribute products to the right place, at the right time, at the right price
- Manage the activities of circa 350 people
- Meet the overall budgeted bottom line
- Manage a local sales team
This position is not for an amateur, beginner or someone who "thinks" they can do the task. This is a senior executive role that has P&L responsibility and is ONLY suited to someone who has been in a General Managers role where they have had to be the driver and the catalyst for serious strategic and tactical growth. The client is increasingly distributing products that are being purchased by e-commerce and this requires a certain mindset and extreme service levels.
Exposure to the management of a distribution centre or even a modern transport company will place you in good stead for this role. It is a dynamic environment where you will be solving problems on the spot whilst implementing both medium and long term strategies.
