About Us

Ridley Aqua-Feed, part of Ridley Corporation, is one of the leading aquaculture feed manufacturers in Australia, is Global GAP certified and services most sectors of the aquaculture industry throughout Australia, New Zealand, Pacific Islands and currently expanding into S.E. Asia. We manufacture a complete range of quality extruded and steam pelleted products for aquaculture species including salmon, ocean trout, chinook, barramundi, prawns (shrimp), yellowtail kingfish, rainbow trout, cobia and other native species. We work closely with our own raw materials division developing new and exciting raw materials to complement our diets. We provide unique and customised, high performance feed solutions to our leading commercial aquaculture farm customers.

Ridley is building a state-of-the-art feedmill in Westbury, Tasmania, that will primarily service Tasmania's salmon industry, in addition to other aquaculture species on the mainland and in New Zealand.

About the role

We are seeking to appoint an experienced and highly self-motivated leader to this autonomous role.  Reporting to the Group Divisional Manager - Aqua-Feed and with the support of the wider Project team, you will be a key member of this busy, cross-functional group whose initial focus is to establish the Westbury site operations. At Project handover, you will transition into the day-to-day management of the site and build an effective team that produces high quality aqua-feed for a number of our key customers.

About you

You will have a relevant Engineering, Science and/or Food Technology qualification with demonstrated experience (min. 5 years) in the technical formulation and manufacturing of salmon feed. You are a commercial-minded, team builder with a strong mechanical aptitude and a consultative, hands-on and solution-minded leadership style that drives a continuous improvement culture. Technical knowledge of extrusion processes is required including a demonstrated ability to develop a team of skilled operators. To ensure the smooth transition of aqua-feed manufacturing from Ridley's Narangba, Queensland site to the new Westbury mill, this position will also require regular travel between the two sites, including for an extended period during onboarding.

You will take ownership of and control all site operations through:

  • Ensuring a safe workplace where risks are identified, assessed, mitigated and managed to ensure the health and safety of our employees;

  • Planning, developing and delivering effective resources to achieve site goals including OHS&E compliance, production targets, quality assurance, budget control and labour resources;

  • Responsibility for site production targets including efficient manufacturing of finished goods to specification, on time and in full;

  • Managing and delivering the site budget and Capex program to improve site standards and efficiency;

  • Proactive and efficient customer service activities, covering all aspects of customer enquiry and complaint handling;

  • Efficient and effective control of all inventory associated with the site;

  • Ensuring all administration processes are completed at the site;

  • Supporting, coaching and developing capability of your team.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in commissioning a new manufacturing plant, with the support of the highly experienced Aqua-Feed team and a comprehensive induction program to set you up for success. In return for your skills and commitment, we offer an excellent salary package to attract the highest calibre person.
