We are seeking applications from experienced Regional Production Manager to join our team in West Melbourne. Reporting to the VLine Classic Maintenance Operations Manager, the successful candidate will responsible for creating a safe working production facility, delivering high-quality maintenance activities within the time scales prescribed, while delivering efficiencies and budget objectives.

Your key responsibilities will include the following:

  • Manage the day to operation of the regional depots and maintenance personnel to ensure all maintenance activities are carried out in a safe and efficient manner, and in accordance with the maintenance regime.
  • Deliver on business KPIs and contractual obligations under the V/Line Fleet Maintenance Agreement.
  • Drive Maximo for full MRP system utilization.
  • Accountability of production deliverables as prescribed by Fleet Management.
  • Drive integration across all departments (Supply Chain, Engineering, Q.A. etc.) to meet business directives.
  • Roll out continuous improvement initiatives (Q6) in maintenance processes, with the aim of increasing throughput and reducing the total cost of contract execution.
  • Provide monthly production reports to management.
  • Providing shop floor information for monitoring the progress of production activities and monthly performance.
  • Establishment and management of the Production budget and ensure it is delivered in full.
  • Liaise with the nominated financial analyst to ensure all financial objectives have been met.
  • Manage the on-site variation process for any additional work outside the maintenance scope.
  • Develop, review and modify work instructions, procedures etc.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with Bombardier’s procedures and ensure all work complies with any statutory Rail Safety and/or Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
  • Represent Bombardier as the senior site representative and manage the relationship with the customer in a manner that fosters an amicable and long-term business relationship.
  • Ensure Bombardier is meeting its Foster a team environment and best practice culture to continually improve work practices and skills development.
  • Establish and maintain a harmonious working environment in which all staff, associates, suppliers and customers are encouraged to be part of the maintenance team.

It is expected you will have the following qualifications, experience and personal characteristics:

  • University qualified engineer or qualified tradesman with rail vehicle maintenance experience
  • Should have practical experience in the following:
  • Service, design, commissioning or maintenance experience on rail vehicles
  • An advanced level of fault finding and troubleshooting experience in structural, mechanical, and electrical systems
  • Application of preventative maintenance strategies based on failure predictions and other statistical tools.
  • A good understanding of standards, maintenance schedules, maintenance instructions, fault reports and other documents
  • Experience and understanding of the interface between electrical, mechanical and pneumatic equipment on rail vehicles
  • Hazard and safety analysis.
