Toll Intermodal and Specialised is part of the Toll Global Express Division, and is a leading supplier of logistics and transport related services operating throughout Australia. This is an opportunity for a progressive and satisfying career with one of Australia’s leading freight companies.

The primary purpose of this position is to maintain, implement and develop Toll Intermodal & Specialised’s operational procedures and strategies within the Cairns branch. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate strong leadership and team building qualities in a highly customer focused environment.

As part of this role, your duties and responsibilities will include the following:

  • Direct the unloading of all Inbound & freight.
  • Oversee the successful pickup & delivery of customer’s freight.
  • Guarantee that Inbound Express freight is loaded for delivery as a priority.
  • Manage up to 30 indirect reports.
  • Monitor fleet operations to ensure all Intermodal & Specialised standards are being followed.
  • Maintain and high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Review fleet operations & routes to ensure efficient use of assets.
  • Ensure all PUD equipment is adequately maintained.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Demonstrated KPI management and cost control.
  • The ability to build effective relationships within the team.
  • Effective communication skills to liaise with both the Operations and Administrative divisions.
  • Ability to manage staff working in a ‘high volume’ loading environment.
  • Knowledge of WH&S, Trucksafe, Fatigue Management and the Dangerous Goods Code.
  • Sound computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

Ideally the successful candidate will have the appropriate understanding of safety within a logistics environment as well as a proven track record in managing safety across a frontline environment. It is preferred if you have experience in a multi-site organisation with a focus on supply chain. You will be an excellent problem solver a strong communicator and have the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of the business.
