We are recruiting a full-time Sydney-based Senior Policy Analyst. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in research and analysis of the PRC and/or the Australia-China relationship. The Senior Policy Analyst is expected to:
- Conduct independent research on the Australia-China relationship and foreign and domestic policy developments in the PRC
- Provide clear and concise written analyses
- Brief China Matters’ government and corporate stakeholders
- Propose policy recommendations for the Australian government, business community, and other stakeholders in the Australia-China relationship
- Liaise with senior stakeholders across government and the private sector
- Assign and oversee research tasks of other team members
Essential criteria:
- Postgraduate degree in China/Asian studies, international relations, international business, security studies, public policy or similar
- At least five years of relevant professional experience in government, academia, think tanks, non-government organisations or similar sectors
- Demonstrated research and analytical skills, and extensive knowledge of the PRC
- Proven organisational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
- Full working rights in Australia
Desirable:
- Good Mandarin reading and speaking skills
- Prior engagement with Australia-China relations
- Experience working with international policy-related issues
- Experience liaising with senior public servants and business executives
