Where you'll be working
You will be working with a diverse and dynamic team within Health System Support Group (HSSG). HSSG is a unit of the Public Health System Support Division of the Health Administration Corporation to provide services to support the public health system in implementing Government targets and programs.
What you'll be doing
The Senior Policy Advisor - Health Risk Assessment provides high level technical and strategic advice to the Health Risk and Regulation Unit with regard to Health Risk Assessment issues. The Senior Policy Advisor will be involved in the design, development and implementation of a range of activities relating to the provision of health risk assessments such as for sites contaminated with per and poly fluorinated alkyl substances, or where public health issues require an appropriate Government response. The position contributes to the development of public policy relating to health risk assessment management within NSW Health, and provides timely, expert advice on the assessment and effective management of environmental health hazards.

Selection Criteria
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications in Public Health, Applied Environmental Science or equivalent. This includes specialised knowledge in health risk assessment, toxicology, or contaminated sites and demonstrated experience applying them to the management of environmental health risks.
- Well-developed analytical skills, and experience interpreting and presenting complex information rapidly and accurately to a range of audiences.
- Demonstrated skills and experience in policy development and review including the provision of providing expert policy advice and recommendations on complex issues.
- High level oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience in all phases of project and program management including design, development, implementation and evaluation.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in health risk assessment, toxicology or contaminated sites and their application in complex settings.
- Demonstrated experience undertaking and applying valid research methods to public policy and programs.
