Minjar Gold is an emerging gold exploration, developer and producer with operations in Western Australia and in Queensland. Due to exciting growth in our Western Australian operation, we are currently seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Senior Exploration Geologist to join us on a full time basis at our Southern Cross operations on a 12 day on 9 days off roster, bus in bus out (BIBO) from Perth.
Reporting into the Exploration Manager, you will be responsible for assisting in the development, management and implementation of Minjar Gold’s Southern Cross exploration strategy, including budgeting, planning, prioritising and coordinating exploration activities at our Southern Cross mine site.
To be successful in this role, your skills and qualifications will include:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from a recognised tertiary institution in Geology. A Post Graduate qualification with a focus on gold mineralisation would be considered highly desirable
- Excellent GIS skills in the use of ArcGIS (MapInfo experience accepted)
- Sound proficiency in the use of Leapfrog geological software (Micromine or Surpac experience accepted)
- Overseeing staff and contractors involved in exploration activities, with a strong focus in OH&S and maintaining high levels of safety standards.
- High level mentoring, training and development skills
- Ability to coordinate and execute exploration activities within the planned budget
- Demonstrated planning, analytical, report writing and communication skills
- Assist with developing exploration targeting criteria as well as long-term and short-term strategies
- A good understanding of Western Australian Mining Law and statutory requirements
- Exploration project work as required
Essential experience will include:
- Minimum of 8 -10 years’ experience in Archaean gold exploration
- Significant experience in regional and generative exploration
- Minimum of four years’ experience in 3D Orebody interpretation
- High level understanding of gold mineralisation, hydrothermal alteration, petrology, metamorphism and structural deformation
- Strong background in structural geology
The successful candidate will be a leader with an excellent track record in team leadership and managing team outcomes within both mine site and exploration settings.
