Senior Development Geologist

We are currently looking for a motivated, passionate and driven individual to join the Northern Star team at our Jundee Operation in the Northern Goldfields.

The Opportunity:

We currently have an exciting opportunity at our Jundee operation for an experienced Senior Development Geologist on a FIFO 8/6 roster.

Reporting to the Geology Manager (Operations), the primary role is to control, direct and advance major geological projects within the Geology Department, to successfully advance resource projects to the Life of Mine (LOM) and to generate and test ideas leading to the development of new resource projects for the Operations.

What we are looking for:.

• A minimum of 7 years’ experience in mining and/or exploration geology, with at least 3 years’ experience in resource modelling of a narrow vein style gold deposit.
• Experience in a production environment as a Geologist, preferably in both underground and open pits.
• High level of competency in the use of modelling and estimation software (Vulcan or Datamine).
• Proven competency in orebody interpretation, wireframing, and modelling estimation methodologies.
• Good understanding of geostatistical and classical estimation methods as well as reconciliation processes.
• Good knowledge of relational databases, especially Microsoft SQL and Access.
• Familiarity with business systems and Microsoft Office application software.
• Ability to work with and lead a team.
• Previous supervisory experience, strong report writing and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to set achievable goals, effectively delegate and mentor is critical.
• Demonstrate ability to maintain or exceed best industry practice in all geological and environmental tasks.
• Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.
• Awareness of the Mine Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations.
