At Scentre Group, we’re known to be a leader within retail property. An interesting part of our business is our Embedded Networks and Energy Team, which manage the energy requirements for our shopping centre portfolio to power HVAC, lighting, vertical transport, and key infrastructure. We also on sell the supply of energy to our retailers too.

Your opportunity

We have a newly created role for a Senior Data Analyst to join our Energy Team, and provide analysis of Scentre Group’s energy purchasing, operations and on-sell services by extracting business insights from large and complex data sets, resulting in process improvements and efficiencies. This is a full-time permanent position, based from our Sydney CBD office.

Success in the role will be measured by your ability to develop and implement methods for collecting, managing and analysing data and related business intelligence capabilities.

A snapshot of the role:

  • Undertake analytical projects to answer key energy questions, and contribute to frameworks, procedures and standards to build data analytics capability
  • Drive proactive insight through data driven decision making and present recommendations that promote the more effective and efficient operation of the energy business
  • Provide report / summaries and recommendations for clear concise communication on complex topics to internal business partners
  • Carry out modelling and analysis on large complex disparate data sets

What will set you apart from the rest?

You’ll be able to demonstrate an impressive mix of both a technical skillset and confident business partnering skills. You’ll be a strong communicator, who is able to communicate ideas and analysis results effectively, both verbally and in writing, to both technical and non-technical audiences. Experience analysing energy and metering data will be a strong advantage, though isn’t necessary.

Technically, you’ll be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Substantial experience in a data analytics field, involving the management and manipulation of large complex data sets
  • Proven ability to support large scale analytic processes and projects - ability to mine large volumes of data into actionable and accurate information
  • Experience processing data in large-scale environments using SQL, Cognos, TM1 and ideally R and/or Python programming and technology stacks such as AWS, Azure or Google Bigquery
