The Employer
QCoal is an independent exploration and mining company currently developing a world class portfolio of mining operations and greenfield projects in Queensland. QCoal has been active in coal exploration for over 25 years having discovered and developed numerous coal deposits including mines that are currently operating. QCoal is active across the project lifecycle from exploration to development, construction, operations and marketing, and employs approximately 1000 direct and indirect people across the QCoal Group.
The Position
The Exploration Geologist role is available for immediate start. Expand your career and take on a challenging and rewarding role within a growing company.
This position will best suit a dynamic individual with a proven track record of at least 2 years' experience in coal exploration.
Location
The role can be based either at the Brisbane CBD head office, or in North Queensland, dependent on the successful candidates preference.
Reporting
The Exploration Geologist reports to the Principal Geologist and works closely with the Geological teams.
In this role, you will be primarily responsible for:
- Drill site supervision, landholder liaison etc
- Providing accurate and timely geophysical log connections or the strata, chip and core descriptions
- Data transfer, verification and database management
Skills and experience
To be considered for this opportunity, you must demonstrate the following:
- 3+ Years' experience as a Geologist.
- A Bachelor of Science / Earth Science or equivalent (Geology) qualification
- A commitment to safe working practices
Favourable skills and experience include but are not limited to:
- S1, S2, S3 and other competencies
- Familiarity in 3D modelling software, preferably Vulcan
- Aptitude in coal quality fundamentals
- Experience with geological data collection, validation, interpretation and QA or QC
- Valid Australian (open) drivers licence
- Current coal board medical
