Geotechnical Engineer

Join our team and become an integral part of the next evolution of caving at our Cadia Valley Operations in NSW.

Overview

Due to an internal promotion we are currently seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer in a full-time role at Cadia Valley Operations in New South. Reporting to the Superintendent – Geotechnical Engineering, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining and advancing our geotechnical systems and processes, providing key inputs to plan and deliver a robust mine plan safely, efficiently and cost effectively.

Your key responsibilities will also include but not be limited to:

  • Completing geotechnical inspections, data analysis and reporting of the rock mass response to caving.
  • Evaluating surface and underground mine infrastructure stability and design of ground support systems.
  • Maintaining and advancing geotechnical monitoring systems, i.e. seismic system, in-ground instrumentation, lidar, prisms and cave flow markers;
  • Demonstrating safety leadership and promoting safe practices and procedures in all facets of work.
  • Strong stakeholder relationship and problem-solving skills.

This opportunity is a full-time residential position working a Monday to Friday roster with nominal hours of 7am – 4 pm.

 

About You

To succeed in this role, you will be safety focused, team orientated and enjoy a technically challenging work environment.  The ideal candidate will possess a strong geotechnical background targeted towards UG hard rock mining.  Experience with seismic monitoring systems and data analysis is also desirable.  You will have a proactive approach to your work and can work autonomously.  The successful candidate will have a relevant degree or tertiary qualification in engineering, i.e. geotechnical, mining or civil.  Additional qualifications in geology will also be considered.
