Auto Electrician

We are Australia’s largest privately owned mining, construction and maintenance services company, working across the resources, energy and infrastructure sectors. We are delivering an existing contract at our Whyalla operations in regional South Australia. Our scope includes ore excavation, drill and blast, haulage operations, plant feed and train loading.
Due to recent growth in the project scope, BGC Contracting now have opportunities for experienced Auto Electricians to join our South Australia Operations.
Reporting to our Workshop Supervisor, our Auto Electricians will be responsible for safety maintaining, diagnosing and repairing a broad range of plant, assets and equipment across our sites.
Working in this diverse environment, with a strong Team culture committed to safety, you will be responsible for:
- Conducting workshop maintenance and maintaining high housekeeping standards in work areas
- Diagnosing electrical faults in mobile plant
- Adjusting engine control systems in equipment
- Installing electrical equipment, accessories and electronic components in equipment and vehicles
- Dismantling and removing electrical and electronic assemblies and components
- Diagnosing, testing and replacing electrical components including defective alternators, generators, voltage regulators and starter motors
- Use of test equipment to locate and repair electrical faults
- Repairing or replacing worn or defective electrical wiring, and electrical components
- Maintaining equipment to company and OEM specifications to ensure reliable operation
- Repair and maintenance of automotive air conditioning systems
What we’re looking for:
- Experience with a range of mining related light vehicles and mobile plant
- Formal Trade qualification
- Strong alignment to BGC’s vision and values
- Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at various levels
- Strong commitment to operating safely and embracing our TRISAFE framework
