This is a residential position of FIFO (8/6) based in Port Hedland reporting to the Group Manager, Operations. . This position provides overall  leadership and direction for the South Hedland combined cycle power station.

The SHPS consist of one OCGT LM6000PF and two CCGT LM6000PF with two once-through steam generators and a single steam turbine with air cooled condenser and other associated auxiliary balance of plant equipment.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Accountable for the day to day operational and EH&S performance of the facility.
  • Accountable to develop systems and procedures for the safe operations and maintenance regime of the plant. Including maintenance strategies, operating procedures etc. that will ensure optimal usage of resources and availability of equipment.
  • Accountable for ensuring the plant equipment is operated in such a way as to meet short and long term business requirements.
  • Responsible for maintaining optimal efficiency both plant wide and on individual equipment.
  • Develop asset management plan-short, medium and long term plans with support from plant engineer
  • Achieve the operations and maintenance KPI as detailed in the Australian work management process.
  • Develop and maintain equipment health database with support from plant engineer with relevant inspections, condition monitoring reports
  • Develop and manage the parts storage and preservation process
  • Maintain and manage the management of change process (MOC)
  • Work closely with the Plant Manager for Work Management implementation and performance, emergency response procedure, cyclone preparedness and business resilience plan, managing asset risk register
  • Manage budgets and ensures variances are accounted for and dealt with accordingly.
  • Dispatching of operating assets to meet the contracted position as per the SHPS PPA for both liquid and gas fuels, while covering for APM (Ops)
  • Ensuring availability of sufficient fully skilled Operations and Maintenance staff for the SHPS site.
  • Responsible for the on-going training and development of the staff.
  • Development and maintenance of a strong relationship with the site based staff of our customer and contractors, ensuring open communications and collaborative problem solving at all times.
  • Conduct Root Cause analysis for equipment failures including recommendations and implementation.
  • Develop Business cases for plant continuous improvement projects
  • Prepare AFEs for planned and unplanned capital activities
  • Other duties as required and commensurate with role and qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Engineering degree or Trade back ground  in a power generation environment/Heavy Industries or Process plant at least with a minimum of 10 years experience in similar level
  • Ability to work on SAP maintenance system
  • Understanding of the plant operations and maintenance functions in an industrial and/or electrical generating facility
  • Understanding of commercial contracts, including the customer contracts and all supply and delivery contracts with stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills
  • Self-motivated and action oriented
  • Ability to meet tight timelines and adapt to changing priorities
  • Ability to work effectively in teams and influence others.
