THE WHO, THE WHAT AND THE WHERE

Our client is an internationally recognised name in Drilling, with a reputation as one of the ‘best in the biz’. They operate across the globe on a range of resources; everything from copper to uranium (and everything in between).

This is a production-driven environment, so the drilling never stops. These WA mine sites are well-maintained with excellent accommodation facilities, including an on-site gym.

This role is FIFO to WA sites from Perth, on 2:1 rosters, working alternating day/night shifts. And you can expect $650-$700 pay per shift, and all flights, meals, and accommodation provided.

WHAT’S INVOLVED?

We don’t need to tell you what is involved in underground drilling; we need experienced people, and you ‘know the drill’ already... (ha!) But here are a few of the details of the day-to-day you should expect: 

• Undertake general drilling operations
• Pre-start equipment checks
• Training and supervising Driller’s Assistants / Trainee Drillers
• Managing the drills (setting up/ packing down and moving drill equipment)
• Ensuring all necessary site paperwork is maintained in accordance with established processes

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

You must be an experienced underground driller to be considered for this job (if you aren’t an experienced Driller but want to get into it, check out our Driller’s Offsider adverts on Seek – just search “Itch” as a keyword). We are looking for WA’s top Drillers for this permanent opportunity; you must be experienced, and come with good recommendations. You will also need:

• Minimum qualification of Cert II in Drilling, (Cert III is preferred)
• A clean ‘C Class’ Driver’s Licence
• A National Police Clearance (with no nasty surprises) or willingness to get one
• A current First Aid/CPR certificate or willingness to undergo training
• Excellent physical fitness (this will be assessed)
• Preferred experience in in either: Boart Longyear LM Series or Altas Copco U8 Series
• Due to FIFO constraints, you must be a resident of Western Australia, with the right to work in Australia
• The character and ability to train and supervise inexperienced staff and work in a team environment
• An assertive (but not aggressive), proactive and solution-focused attitude
• A commitment to prioritising safety above all else
