CuDeco Limited owns and operates the 3.0Mtpa Rocklands Copper Mine situated near the town of Cloncurry, 121kms east of Mt Isa in N.W. Queensland. CuDeco prides itself in being a regional employer of choice that supports the local community.
We currently have an opportunity for a Metallurgy Superintendent with a proven track record in Copper and/or hard rock mineral operations to join our management team.
Reporting to the Processing Manager, this role is responsible for ensuring the process plant is run in a safe and effective manner according to production plans, ensuring quality products are produced at all times, ensuring that waste is minimised and that customer expectations and specifications are met. This will be achieved through the continuous improvement of the metallurgy strategies and operations to achieve optimum Process Plant performance. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of 9 metallurgists and should be able to provide strong leadership and mentoring to the team building the skills and competencies of the team. This role would be ideal for someone who thrives in a small but complex operation.
Tasks include but are not limited to:
- Making improvement recommendations to Senior Met and Metallurgy Team and continually increase the level of safety at the plant and other associated facilities
- Complying with company’s Environmental Social Monitoring Program Management Plan and Health and Safety PMP.
- Providing technical advice and support to the whole metallurgy department, process engineering team, process plant operational crews for the optimisation of the circuit and work closely to operational crews to optimise production.
- Continually monitor plant performance of the plant and readily address issues.
- Manage the development of strategies for resolving process bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
- Coach and mentor all team members to build capability across Cudeco workforce.
Qualifications:
- Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering Degree
- Current unencumbered C Class driver license.
- 5 + years in metalliferous processing with exposure to crushers, grinding mills, floatation, and HPGR and tailings disposal
- 5+ years supervisory experience
- S1, S2, S3
The Metallurgy Superintendent role is a permanent full-time position with a competitive salary, based on a 14:7 roster. Rocklands is a residential mine but FIFO arrangements might be considered for the right candidate from Townsville or Brisbane.
