Location 
BHP's Mt Arthur Coal Mine Site is the largest individual coal production site in the beautiful NSW Hunter Valley region. Located less than 5 kilometres from Muswellbrook, we produce high quality, clean energy coal for international and domestic customers. Mt Arthur Coal can offer experience and great career development opportunities.

About the role
Reporting to the Manager Engineering, this challenging statutory role will see you responsible for the Mechanical Engineering governance and technical stewardship over all mechanical systems, standards and processes across the entire Mt Arthur Coal operation. You will also be accountable for authorising all mechanical competencies on site.

You will enjoy working with a variety of stakeholders, ensuring coaching and collaboration form part of your successful approach.  As part of this you will interface with the Department of Planning and Environment (Mine Safety Regulator) for reporting of incidents and review of safety and legislation information.

About you 
You will hold a Practicing Certificate in Mechanical Engineering of Coal Mines in line with the Work Health and Safety (Mines and Petroleum Sites) Regulation 2014 [NSW] or a Chartered Practicing Engineering Certificate allowing you to perform in a statutory function as a Mechanical Engineer.

You will be passionate about establishing and maintaining processes, systems and documentation to ensure that all mechanical work is implemented to an impeccable safety standard. As the successful applicant you will also have:  
•Experience controlling, managing and being responsible for mechanical activities and ensuring legislative compliance;
•Capability to develop the mechanical engineering control plan, review and authorise fit for purpose engineering standards, mechanical procedures and documentation;
•Well-developed communication and collaboration skills and an ability to work across various stakeholders;
•A desire to play a role in mentoring all site Mechanical Engineers, Supervisors and tradespersons
•You will also be a performance and achievement oriented professional, who is motivated by exceeding expectations and providing excellent results.
