Minara Resources is Australia's second largest Nickel producer and one of the top ten in the world. Our Murrin Murrin operation is a world class hydrometallurgical project; we were one of the first to invest in and develop the technology we use and we aim to become a world leader in Nickel and Cobalt production. As an owner-operator, we run our own Utilities department which incorporates over 80MW of power generation (including steam and gas turbines), a 4400TPD acid plant, 6TPH H2S plant and a reverse osmosis water treatment plant which draws from our extensive bore fields. Our Ore Leach area utilises High Pressure Acid Leaching (HPAL) technology and our Refinery produces LME grade briquettes on site.
The Role:
We are currently seeking an experienced Turbine Technician to join our maintenance team in the Utilities area of our processing plant. Working in a crew on a rotating shift roster and reporting to the Supervisor – Turbine and Power Generation in Utilities, you will be responsible for performing planned maintenance, reactive breakdown maintenance and shutdown work across the area.
Our Murrin Murrin Operations will provide you with experience that can only be developed through working at one of the most complex hydrometallurgical and process plant in Australia.
You will be responsible for undertaking maintenance of a vast array of equipment, including:
- Gas and steam turbines
- Boilers
- Pumps: centrifugal, turbine, axial, positive displacement and associated equipment
- Cooling towers
- Acid plant and associated equipment
- Blowers and compressors
- Tanks and pressure vessels
- Water treatment plant
You:
As a minimum, you’ll have a qualification in a Technical, Trade or Engineering related discipline with significant demonstrated experience working within a processing plant environment. The following additional experience or qualifications would be beneficial, but not essential:
- Power, water, gas and acid process plant experience
- Experience with onsite power generation troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of LM2500, steam turbines and diesels.
- Adhere to all safety rules and regulations when carrying out tasks
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office
- Report detail on tasks performed and log in CMMS (Oracle)
- Remote site experience
- Confined space, working at heights or hazardous area training

You will work an 8/6 FIFO roster, within a small crew a requirement to do nightshift will arise during planned shutdowns.
