About the role

We are looking for a Principal Advisor Operational Readiness to provide specialist operational readiness leadership, advice and support to projects across Rio Tinto, at all stages of the project lifecycle, to facilitate and promote successful projects within Rio Tinto.

This role is a great opportunity to contribute at a tactical and sometimes strategic level to the thought and functional leadership of the operations readiness function across Rio Tinto Projects. Reporting to the GM Engineering, you will be:

  • Developing and communicating the business value of operational readiness to Rio Tinto Project’s execution teams and Business Unit operations to ensure leading practices are implemented
  • Facilitate operational readiness reviews to identify and mitigate constraints or risks that may prevent the successful achievement of project ramp-up’s and transitions into steady state operation.
  • Provide advice & support, through-out all project stages, to ensure operational readiness programs are being developed and implemented in alignment with the Rio Tinto Projects endorsed methodology.
  • Providing functional direction and leadership to operational readiness professionals’ across Rio Tinto through development and provision of operational readiness training sessions.
  • Establishing assurance over operational readiness programs by supporting review of project progress report with a focus on operational readiness forecast costs, scheduled milestones and risks/opportunities.

 

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

  • Bachelor Degree in a relevant field of Engineering.
  • Experience working in a mining or plant operation
  • Proven ability to improve operational performance through analysis of production, organisational and business systems.
  • Experience in developing and implementing corporate wide training programs.
  • Experience with occupational safety and health in mining or similar industry.

 It will also be beneficial if you have:

  • Post graduate qualifications in Business Management; Finance; or Project Management preferable
  • Experience working on a major project.
