An exciting, challenging yet rewarding opportunity exists within a new organisation in the Perth CBD office. The Technical Superintendent will be responsible for the end-to-end technical management of a fleet of vessels operating in the Australian operating region. The role forms an integral part of a professional maritime support Team for the Operational Business; working alongside resources in HSEQ, Crewing, Purchasing and Finance to deliver best in class performance consistently.

 

The suitable candidate will be selected with relevant experience in the market sector, as well as experience with OEM, shipyard management, repair management and OPEX management. The ability to be proactive and work in a dynamic team environment is critical to the success of the role.

 

Area of responsibility and tasks include:

 

      Have an overall responsibility for the health and safety of the personnel under their supervision.

      It is expected that supervisors shall take an active and visible leadership role in promoting HSEQ and proactive upholding the Company HSEQ objectives.

      Ensuring all equipment necessary for the safe conduct of the operation is available and properly maintained and certified;

      Responsible for management and technical operations of dedicated vessels. This includes overseeing the daily operations of maintenance and repair, budgeting, survey schedules, and on-board general assessment of vessels, inspections, average, claim, lay-up and docking.

   Ensure the assigned vessels are technically operational or otherwise managed accordingly to the management agreement requirement.

      Familiar with Processes in Corporate Management System – SIMS, and be an active part in improvement of the same.

      Liaise with customers and subcontractors on technical matters including vessel performance.

      Responsible for vessel dry docking, repairs and survey when required and develop repair specifications for dry-docking and maintenance. Perform evaluation for dry-docking, repair quotes and selection of shipyards for repair works.

      Provide and compile documented reports upon completion of dry-docking, including summaries of works performed, operational budgets, and actual expenditures.

      Identify and source for technical and operational supplies required for the vessels and ensure the rates are most economical.

      Perform monthly review of logs received from vessels.

      Monitor status of vessel with relation to Class/Flag cert and survey and manage compliance.

      Perform budgeting and cost control measures on ship spares and docking requirements.

      Approve vessels purchasing and corresponding invoices according to relevant SIMS processes.

      Undertake any Technical related assignments from Technical Manager when required.

      Participate and be an active part in Team Meetings.

 

Desired qualifications include:

 

      Relevant Marine technical certification and experience, preferably in the rank as Chief Engineer.

      Experience in a repair yard or with ship repair is preferred.

      Proven leadership skills.

      More than 10 years relevant experience.

      Good English knowledge, written and oral.

      Computer knowledge, proficiency with Project software preferred.

      Familiar with PMS systems, Class and Statutory requirements.
