A new position has become available for a Tenures & Native Title Lead to identify, develop and implement the strategic tenure objectives for the business. This includes the effective management of the acquisition, exploration, development, rehabilitation, and divestment of the tenure portfolio; as well as negation and management of Native Title agreements.
 
Reporting to the Strategic Approvals Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • The development and implementation of the Tenure and Native Title strategies and plans to ensure portfolio risks are identified and controls are in place 
  • Liaise with Government bodies, Traditional Owners, industry representative groups, other operators and coal parties and negotiate high value, tenure related business outcomes
  • Develop and implement tenure and Native Title strategies and plans
  • Identify and influence regulatory reform and practices to achieve business value
  • Ensure portfolio risks and controls are reviewed, updated and documented
  • Manage tenure and Native Title compliance to ensure no unplanned loss of acreage, financial penalties, legal exposure or reputational damage
  • Manage the documentation of tenure and Native Title obligations and commitments
  • Liaise with the other Business Units to ensure they understand their tenure and Native Title accountabilities
  • Manage tenure and Native Title portfolio activity to support the business, including advice and support in relation to commercial arrangements

 
Knowledge and experience required:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Law or Business or other relevant discipline
  • Demonstrated high level knowledge and experience of regulatory and commercial arrangements relating to tenure management in the Oil & Gas or resource sector
  • Knowledge of gas and oil exploration and production, joint venture and commercial arrangements, and technical aspects of geology and petroleum engineering
  • Strong leadership skills and experience and the ability to engage with and influence external stakeholders
  • Strong commercial acumen, along with demonstrated experience in negotiating complex matters
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communicator, able to challenge others in a constructive manner and negotiate successfully to achieve positive outcomes


This position is offered on a 12-month fixed term contract, based in the Brisbane CBD office. An attractive remuneration negotiated with the successful applicant.
