Due to continued growth UGL have an opportunity for an Operations Manager Mining to join the Asset Services division team in Perth.
 
The Operations Manager will report directly into the General Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining, building and leading high performing project teams to expertly deliver a large portfolio of small to medium (< $50M) SMP/E&I projects across WA and SA.
 
You will be an accomplished safety leader, excellent communicator and have a strong customer focus, with experience leading projects during bid phase and transitioning to execute highly desirable.
 
Responsibilities will include;
 
  • Outstanding, sustainable outcomes in HSE through visible felt leadership and significant personal contribution to HSE improvement strategy
  • To create a significant and sustainable corporate differentiator in the provision of maintenance, brownfields projects and TAR services to the Asset Services Mining market
  • Manage your team through all aspects of project delivery including change management, schedule management, quality and risk management, budget, cost control, and cost forecasting.
  • Manage any contractual claims through to a speedy conclusion that is satisfactory to all parties
  • Control standards of project procurement and approval of purchasing
  • Ensure that our customers' needs are delivered in a safe, timely and efficient manner whilst ensuring a safe and effective operation of the project
  • Actively create and maintain a culture of openness, responsiveness, transparency, ethics and accountability across the team
  • Business Order Book Growth strategies to meet the Regions 5 year Business plan
  • Develop business capability in line with company strategies and growth expectations
  • Providing strategy and leadership in the collation of tenders and business development
  • Raise capability of Project Managers and Project Engineers to deliver their own P&L’s
 
 
To be successful in this role;
 
  • Proven strategic ownership for asset management plans and their execution
  • Degree qualified in an engineering or management based discipline
  • Strong Analytical skills (proposals, business cases, financial analysis, contracts)
    A good understanding in commercials, budgets, forecasting and change management (involving changes to scope, quantities and timeframes)
  • An innovative approach to continuous improvement and successful delivery methods
  • Previous experience in the management and delivery of multi-discipline complex projects with a background in an engineering design, build & commission operating environment with scope up to $50M
  • Proven background in the delivery of O&G, Mining, Industrial Process and/or Power projects from inception to practical completion in a contracting environment
  • Strong HSEQ focus and leadership capability
  • A high level of business and commercial acumen with the ability to read, interrogate and interpret cash, cost, WIP and revenue project position with a sound understanding of production controls, procurement plans and programs
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills
