The Role:
The Gruyere gold deposit in Western Australia is one of Australia’s most exciting new gold projects. Gold Road Resources and Gold Fields are proud to have an established 50/50 JV partnership over Gruyere. With Gold Fields as the JV manager, the team at Gruyere have hit the ground running and are working hard to achieve first gold production in early 2019.
This is an opportunity to help be a part of a world class orebody and mining operation. A unique opportunity to put your wealth of open pit mining experience to use by working with the mining contractor and technical teams to establish the Gruyere Open Pit and set the standard for the rest of the Australia Operations.
Reporting to the Mining Manager, you will be responsible for quality execution of the mine plan. You will set the acceptable operational standard that supports your drive for continued safety improvement. This is a senior role within the mining team where you will have input to help shape the mine plans, and to interact with the site leadership team. Through this you will get a view of the bigger picture and be able to support the integration of short term planning and production requirements of the mine to meet processing needs and maintain alignment with the site strategic direction.
This role is offered on an 8 days on 6 days off roster and is Fly in Fly out from Perth. Flexibility around this roster will be required, details of which will be discussed with applicants who progress to the interview stage.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Always act in a manner that seeks to enhance the safety culture and performance of the operation. Lead by example, support our Vital Behaviours, and help create something you can be proud of.
- Accountable for working with the contractor to deliver quality execution of the mining plan.
- Own the operational standards of the mining operation.
- Project management and ensuring delivery of ancillary tasks to support operational delivery.
- Delivery of improvement initiatives.
- Coordination of the mining team for safe, efficient & effective operational performance.
- Manage mining activities and costs to ensure budgets are met.
- Contribute to site operational delivery through transparent reporting and timely addressing issues.
Key factors to your success include:
- WA Quarry Manager’s Certificate and familiarity with Australian mining regulations.
- Significant Open Cut Mining Experience, 10+ years working in mining industry with 5+ years in a leadership position.
- High level proficiency with Word, Excel, Fleet Management Systems, and other mining specific software.
