About the Role

An excellent opportunity exists for a suitably qualified and talented Mechanical Technician to join our site based Auxiliary Equipment Maintenance team on a fulltime basis. Your key role in our team will be ensuring we have a safe and effective maintenance contributing to high mobile fleet availability and providing heavy vehicle mechanical maintenance support.

Reporting to the Supervisor Auxiliary Equipment Maintenance within the Mobile Maintenance execution team, your duties will include:

  • Demonstrate commitment and conformance to the BHP Charter, the BHP Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance, breakdown repairs and fault finding and maintain, service and repair on a fleet of auxiliary equipment including Slewing Cranes, Franna Non-slewing Cranes, Volvo and Scania Trucks, as well as light vehicles, Manitou and Hyster forklifts.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and assist in the implementing of the new initiatives in a constructive way.

About You

As the successful candidate, you will possess the following which are mandatory requirements of this role:

  • Heavy Vehicle Mechanical Fitter Trade Qualification with a minimum 3 years post trade experience.
  • Strong heavy vehicle mechanical fitting maintenance competency, with sound diagnostic abilities.
  • Forklift License, EWP, Working at Heights.
  • C and HR/MC Driver’s License essential.

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Experience with maintaining Slewing Cranes, Franna Non-slewing Cranes, Volvo and Scania Trucks, as well as light vehicles, Manitou and Hyster forklifts.
  • Ability to work off schematic drawings.
  • Rigging, Auto Aircon license, CV (Hiab), CN (Non Slewing Crane) and Dogman highly regarded.

Location

You will be based at our ‘Area C’ mine site on a fly-in fly-out 2 weeks on, 1 week off roster. Our Area C mine is located approximately 100kms North West of Newman, West Australia. The outstanding facilities at the FIFO village include; a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, netted cricket pitch, tennis and basketball court, beach volleyball court and recreation room including a pool table, darts, table tennis, TV and DVD player. All rooms at the village have their own ensuite bathroom, television, refrigerator and air-conditioning.
