About the role

The Principal Technical Engineer is an expert in the field of Technology and has a broad range of knowledge of Technology infrastructure and software systems as implemented in the Production System environment at Olympic Dam. Supporting the end to end service within the sub functions and assisting the business in meeting its objectives by providing a stable, reliable and secure environment.

This role provides leadership and guidance to the technical resources in support of operational and project teams and supports the Maintenance and Technology platform strategies, plans and schedules within the area of responsibility for all deployed technologies to ensure that Technology systems achieves optimal maintenance outcomes.

 

Please note we promote flexible working arrangements for this position which is based at Olympic Dam, operating on a 5/2 4/3 9/5 roster schedule, with residential or FIFO options available.

In this role you will:

 

  • Safe systems of work, utilising existing work management processes delivering against performance targets, while aligning with business requirements;
  • The management and governance of Technology infrastructure and software Systems;
  • Provides leadership, support and guidance in maintaining Technology infrastructure and software Systems, policy, process and procedures;
  • Develops/maintains technology standards and processes for Technology infrastructure and software Systems;
  • Provides input into the financial budget and targets for infrastructure lifecycle refresh and optimise costs;
  • Responsible for the safe execution of Incident and maintenance activities that reduce failure rates (MTBF) and downtime of IT/OT equipment across BHP Olympic Dam;
  • Ensure an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
  • Take an active role in the safety culture within the Production Systems Operations team.
  • Effective development of standards for the Production Systems Architecture, hardware and software design, pre-deployment testing, safe delivery, site commissioning and handover to Operations including pre-handover and post-handover support.
  • Standardising and simplifying Production Systems including all critical controls ensuring zero safety, risk, volume, or cost impacts.
  • Strict adherence to relevant MOC processes.
  • Ensure no disruption to Operations resulting from Technology infrastructure and software Systems based activities.
  • Executes 1SAP Work Management and Service Management operational processes to drive consistent service delivery for the entire scope of accountabilities; and
  • Manages ongoing technology delivery to service level agreements from projects to application and asset owners.

 

About you:

 

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent with suitable post-trade qualifications and experience
  • Current Network Certification such as CCNA (Data Centre, Security, Voice), CCNP (Routing&Switching, Wireless) and/or CCDA (Design) certification
  • Network Certification such as CCIE certification desirable
  • Microsoft Networking and Security Fundamentals
  • Windows Server 2008 & 2012; Exchange and/or SQL experience desirable
  • High degree of competence with Industrial (strong preference in Mining Industry) Network and communication systems design, development, deployment, transition and support.
  • Computer based CAD design and/or digital design desirable
