Core is seeking to strengthen its Technical Services Group through engaging a Senior Metallurgist.  We are seeking a candidate with strong client management skills combined with excellent technical depth. This role is responsible for providing technical leadership and expertise for laboratory testwork, pilot plant programs and on-site operational roles for our clients' projects.  Specific responsibilities will vary with project load, but may include:

  • Design and management of metallurgical testwork programs and pilot plants from proposal through to final technical report.
  • Provide technical guidance for our clients in the design of their testwork programs and interpretation and significance of metallurgical results for their project.  Work collaboratively with clients and internal technical teams to ensure metallurgical programs are tailored to advance solutions for our clients' project requirements.
  • With metallurgical laboratory staff, prepare, compile, verify and report metallurgical testwork data. 
  • Participate in, and as appropriate provide leadership for, flotation and/or hydrometallurgical pilot plant programs.
  • Provide on-site consulting to our clients in due diligence, plant audit or site-based project services.
  • With Core's Process Engineers, develop flowsheets and study inputs to advance process solutions for our clients' projects.
  • Manage and report budget and schedule for testwork and pilot programs.
  • Occasional domestic and overseas travel to the operations we support may be required.

This is a vital role in the company and is suited to a person with extensive technical experience in metallurgical processes, especially in the context of study programs.  The right candidate will have:

  • Strong ability to work with clients collaboratively to progress the technical goals of their projects. Excellent communication and project management skills are essential.
  • At least 10 years' experience in technical metallurgical roles, especially in hydrometallurgy. Operational experience will also be highly regarded.
  • Experience in nickel and cobalt hydrometallurgy will be highly regarded.
  • A very high level of attention to detail, with a strong commitment to ensuring quality in the work completed and reported.
  • The candidate must have working / residency rights in Australia.
