Mining Supervisor

BGC Contracting were awarded a $700M, five year contract to deliver mining and equipment maintenance services at Boggabri open-cut coal mine in NSW for our client Idemitsu. As a result, we are looking to support our project team and provide our next career opportunity for an experienced Mining Supervisor.

This residential role, reporting to Production Superintendent, the Mining Supervisor will coordinate and direct work teams to in accordance with BGC Contracting procedures to ensure Project KPIs are achieved.

Working in this diverse environment, with a One Shirt One Team culture and a strong commitment to safety and the community, you will be responsible for:

• Providing clear leadership and direction to the employees
• Managing daily mining and production organisation and supervision in line with company policies and procedures
• Proactively managing onsite safety driving a culture of safety excellence
• Ensuring the services performed by the company is of  the highest quality achievable
• Ensuring enough labour on site to meet work requirements and request labour as required
• Reporting all incidents, accidents and near misses immediately and completes the incident investigations
• Encouraging and driving employee contribution in continuous improvement programs

What we’re looking for:

• Essential:
• An experienced open cut coal mine Supervisor with a track record of achieving outstanding safety results and SHMS compliance with work groups under their control;    
• Previous leadership and supervisory experience in a large scale open cut coal mine;;
• Ability to lead motivate and effectively manage  team members to safely execute the shift plan;
• Lead by example to create a positive team environment and model the BGC Values and CHARTER to sustain an enjoyable workplace;   
• Relevant operational experience with ultra-class electric drive haul trucks, 600T excavators or other ancillary machinery
• Knowledge and understanding of NSW mining legislation;
• Preferable: Open Cut Examiner (OCE) qualification; 
• Desirable:
• Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
