About the role:

The key function of this role is to negotiate and execute promotional campaigns with national suppliers that will generate sales and growth for the perishable categories.  You will play a pivotal role supporting the success of the independent retailer through the provision of accurate information and promotional delivery. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your pathway into National category management with a leading FMCG company.

What you’ll do:

We are seeking an individual who is an excellent communicator who can work effectively with external stakeholders. Your role will be varied and will involve the following functions:

• Provide national promotions and data solutions teams with agreed promotional slotting with suppliers to manage the weekly catalogue as per the promotional process and guidelines
• Periodically review promotional activity executed for each Supplier to ensure actual in-market activity matches the income and activity negotiations in the trading agreements.
• Provide weekly national promotional forecasts for promoted groups at a national level to the promotions team, data solutions group and stock replenishment
• Communicate effectively with the state and operations teams to ensure that all sales and income commitments are communicated for each category and national supplier
• Provide category and supplier input into the forecasting and budgeting process and provide regular updates on achievements and recommendations where necessary.
• Work with Local Buyers to identify appropriate state based ranging and promotional opportunities consistent with the national category strategies
• Effectively communicate with the promotions, state & operations teams on any significant category, supplier, competitive, sales or income issues together with recommendations on corrective actions.
• Conduct post implementation reviews of NPD, promotions and category reviews and develop improvement plans where appropriate

What you’ll bring:

This is a great role for someone looking to step into a more senior position, but has enough experience to hit the ground running.

• 3+ years’ experience in a Category Management team or associated function
• Tertiary education preferred
• Strong Customer Service Orientation
• Excellent communicator & negotiator, with ability to influence at senior levels.
• Able to build long term relationships with internal and external stakeholders
