Main Function

Managing a number of individual tailored menswear stores in stand alone shops (Stafford Ellinson) and within concessions at David Jones.(Anthony Squires)

Reports to Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer

Other responsibilities

• Provision of knowledgeable advice and assistance to customers.
• Sale of merchandise
• Comprehension of point of sale software
• Understanding company brands and services, manufacturing methods, fabrics, etc.
• Understand correct fitting techniques, including alteration and styling advice.
• Receive payment for merchandise, including operation of the point of sale system.
• Receipt, preparation and packing of goods for repair or replacement.
• Management
• Head Office reporting and communication.
• Supervision of staff, including Rostering where applicable.
• Monitor budget expectations.
• Completion of head office reports in a timely manner.
• Ensure customer feedback flows through to the Managing Director.
• Supervision of employees located in South Australia, including provision of guidance and support to those employees.
• Delegation of tasks to suitably qualified employees to ensure the smooth running of the store, and the provision of superior service to all stakeholders.
• Ensuring employees adhere to the Stafford Group of Companies Code of Ethics & Conduct and Policies and Procedures where applicable.
• Rostering, monitoring timekeeping, ensuring employees receive the appropriate meal and rest breaks.
• Merchandising
• In-store collateral and signage.
• Product styling & placement.
• Receiving and preparation of merchandise and collateral for sale and/or display.
• Styling ranges and product for optimum store appearance and visibility of available stock.
• Security
• Loss prevention.
• General security of company property, goods, etc.
• Miscellaneous
• Work which is incidental to or in connection with any of the above, including general cleaning responsibilities.
• Maintaining adequate stock levels via approved weekly replenishment procedures and ad hoc stock ordering procedures.

BUDGET AND REVENUE

• Maximise sales to achieve budget and gross profit expectations.
• Work with team members to achieve sales targets.
• Maintain and adhere to the Discount Policy at store level, as amended from time to time.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Customer service skills, including the ability to understand the needs of the customer.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
• General computer skills, and the ability to learn point of sales systems, company stock control systems, email, etc.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Understanding of the company product, and ability to advise on the correct fitting and where necessary alteration and styling of merchandise.
• Ability to complete tasks with minimum supervision.
• Ability to resolve minor problems and issues through discussion and teamwork.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION

• Ability to stand for extended periods of time
• Kneeling and bending to fit suits
• Reaching above the head to obtain and re-hang garments
• Ability to receive bulk deliveries of merchandise
• Ability to lift up to 15kg
• Ability to effectively merchandise, including changing and/or rotating stocks and displays, dressing/changing mannequins, etc.
• Ability to undertake general cleaning as required.

Note that suits weigh approximately 1.2kg (per jacket and trouser).  The ability to carry multiple suits and trousers is required.
