As an experienced Premium Menswear Buyer you must have experience in Tailoring (IT IS ESSENTIAL).  Your role is to deliver successful ranges of the most unique, high end and wanted designer pieces.  You will coordinate with stakeholders within the company to ensure you are delivering according to company strategy and objectives.

The Menswear Buyer - Tailoring is responsible for supporting the Managing Director in the following capacities: 

What you will do:

  • Lead and support men’s buying trips;
  • Manage the production and buying process against critical time paths to ensure key deadlines are met;
  • Exposure to Europe and Australian premium labels
  • Build and develop ranges relevant to the current trends
  • Work with internal and external parties to ensure the product is depicted accordingly
  • Use key financial reports / general reporting to make business decisions
  • Build and Maintain key relationships with key stakeholders
  • Drive approved timelines for all parts of the product development process
  • Manage and mentor your team for success
  • Conduct regular training in all Harrolds stores on brands/products in conjunction with the National Retail Operations Manager;
  • Create the strategic direction for the range through in depth market trend awareness and analysis reacting to sales performance wit range planning
  • Be able to build effective working relationship with internal and external stakeholders, acting as the contact point for both store and supplier
  • Work closely with suppliers and retail teams to negotiate appropriate sell through guarantees
  • Analyse brands internally including monitoring stock for refills, reordering and store rotations for optimum effectiveness;
  • Be regularly present in store; selling to customers, obtaining feedback on brand/product range and providing support to the team;
  • Develop an efficient and accurate system for monitoring all open purchase orders
  • Deliver a weekly purchase order report to management that indicates the vendor invoice number for all closed purchase orders
  • Work with the inventory management team to ensure that all deliveries satisfy the assigned purchase orders and report any back-ordered or missing products
  • Support retail teams through product training, knowledge and information supplied by the brands
  • Liaise with Marketing department to develop promotional plan supporting key purchased store
  • Provide any other support required to Menswear Buyer – Tailoring and the broader Buyer team;

What you need:

  • Demonstrated previous experience in Menswear Buyer capacity - preferred minimum 5 years
  • Naturally interested in the detail and ensuring everything is 100% correct
  • Strong computer literacy in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook, Word)
  • Able to work under pressure, to tight deadlines and in a very fast paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication and negotiation skills, great problem solver, able to think fast
  • Be highly self-motivated and an astute multi-tasker
  • Highly organised, willingness to take initiative and work autonomously when needed
  • Awareness of fashion trends, online fashion sites and key international retailers
  • Be available for work related travel as required - up to 10 trips a year

Skills and experience

  • VCE / Diploma Equivalent
  • Leadership experience – to be able to lead from the front
  • Clear Understanding of new trends, emerging brands, and have a natural eye for fashion
  • Creating and designing complex Budgets
  • Essential - Buying experience within Australia & NZ (European Markets)
  • Key Negotiating & Communicating skills
  • Achieve targeted Budgets and KPIs set by senior management efficiently and effectively and timely
  • Highly engaged and live and breathe Luxury Fashion
  • Ability to think on their feet and be adaptable
  • Ability to provide training & development when needed
  • Organised and proficient in conducting meetings with clients 
  • Shop floor selling experience – strong sales ethos
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Advanced Excel and Powerpoint Skills
  • Strong work ethic
