This General Merchandise Retailer is a family owned business based in Melbourne and specialises in Cosmetics, Gifting and Liquor.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Merchandise Assistant to join a passionate and driven Buying team working in the Beauty category.

About the role

This is a 6 month fixed term contract position to assist the buying team in all day to day activities. The role will be in responsible for assisting with ordering, sourcing and promoting product ranges to achieve organisational KPIs. 

Responsibilities will include:

• Work closely with the Buying team to support them in day to day tasks
• Liaise with stores to ensure an understanding of customer trends and store requirements 
• Develop and maintain positive supplier relationships
• Weekly and monthly sales analysis, reporting at store and supplier level
• Maintain product database; SKU creation, price changes, creation of new suppliers 
• Communication with warehouse and stores 
• Organise supplier meetings and participate when required

To be successful:

• Previous experience in a similar role within the buying funciton is highly regarded
• High attention to detail
• Good leadership skills
• Demonstrable ability to manage various competing prioritories and the ability to assess and resolve complex problems
• A sense of urgency and the ability to translate this into effective organisational practices and time management
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
