About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists to join the Media and Communications Directorate in the role of Corporate Communications Coordinator. The role fosters community engagement for the LHD and its hospital and health services through best practice corporate communications that promotes understanding of health issues in the community and to enhance the reputation of the LHD. The role also is responsible for driving effective and innovative internal staff communications to support effective change management and a positive workplace culture.  

 

  • The position is responsible for strategic planning, developing and implementation, and monitoring and analysis, of the LHD’s internal and external corporate communication activities to generate and promote awareness of the LHD’s strategic directions, goals and achievements, and to protect the reputation of Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District, its hospitals and clinical services
  • The position is required to maintain and significantly grow community relations and foster engagement for the LHD and its services through improved corporate communications practice that promotes understanding of health issues and; in conjunction with the LHD’s Workforce, People and Culture Directorate, Hospital Executive and Clinical Services Executive teams, provide effective and innovative internal staff communications to support a positive culture under the direction of the NBMLHD Board and executive leadership team
  • The position is required to identify corporate communication policy and protocol issues and gaps, recommend best practice solutions, and assist in the development of policies and protocols that address the LHD’s broad communication needs and minimises risk to the LHD’s relationships and reputation
  • As part of the Media and Communications team the position is also responsible for assisting in the coordination of LHD level events management such as service launches and VIP visits; writing, generating and coordinating internal and external media and communication campaigns designed to promote awareness of the strategic directions, goals, achievements and activities within NBMLHD

Selection Criteria to be addressed:

  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Media and/or at least five years professional experience in a senior role within corporate communications, media management, community relations and public relations in a large, diverse service industry organisation
  2. Demonstrated experience in providing complex and sensitive advice, and applying sound analytical and problem solving skills, particularly with regards to issues management and the formulation of appropriate responses
  3. Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and gain the commitment of others to improve understanding of health services and issues and to promote a positive reputation for the Local Health District
  4. Superior written communication skills and experience in the oversight and production of professional written and digital communications which include media copy, corporate publications and social media
  5. Demonstrated experience in developing and launching communication campaigns and the ability to strategically plan and coordinate high level corporate events, VIP and media visits
  6. Excellent time-management skills with the ability to manage and work under conflicting and tight deadlines
  7. Demonstrated ability to mentor staff through highly developed leadership, communication and interpersonal skills and actively contribute to a positive work culture and a highly functioning team
  8. Sound knowledge of regulations relating to privacy and confidentiality and experience in assisting in the development of policies and strategies to support innovative Corporate Communications practice
