The Australasian Fire and Emergency Service Authorities Council (AFAC) is the national council for fire, land management and emergency service authorities in Australia and New Zealand, representing 31-member organisations totalling 288,000 firefighters and emergency workers.
The Australian Institute for Disaster Resilience (AIDR) is an operating division of AFAC.
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Communications Manager to coordinate and implement specific communications and publication activities. The role reports to the Assistant Director Communications and Events, AFAC/AIDR and will be primarily responsible for:
- Supporting the development, publication and marketing of the Australian Journal of Emergency Management
- Providing AFAC and AIDR with advice and materials for communications’ channels
- Effectively coordinating communications activities with partners and stakeholders
- Supporting the communications activities of the Bushfire & Natural Hazards CRC
This hands-on role is suited to a proactive person with experience across a range of functions who can operate well within a small team environment. You will be tertiary qualified in communications, journalism, public relations or a related field with 5 years’ experience, be highly organised, be flexible and adaptable with a high attention to detail and capacity to meet deadlines in order to deliver quality outcomes.
