Detail information about job Senior Media Advisor. Terms and conditions vacancy

  • Do you have a passion for making a difference & helping others?
  • Do you enjoy collaborating with a variety of stakeholders?
  • Looking for a progressive and flexible organisation?

At CHOICE, we work everyday to help people navigate complex markets, step in to stop businesses treating people unfairly and fight for governments to create laws in the interests of people, not big corporations.

We need you to help us connect with the media to grow the number of people CHOICE helps and to create change for all consumers.

You will be joining an organisation with a long track record of making a difference. CHOICE has fought for, and won, a national consumer law, protections for people against dodgy financial advice, stronger food labelling laws and much, much more. We’ve been giving people clear-cut advice about products and services since 1959, initially with CHOICE magazine and now through new tools and services like canisaveonenergy.com.au and our CluckAR app.

You’ll be a senior staff member, working within the Campaigns and Communications Department to make sure our organisation connects with consumers on our most important priorities.

In this new role you will work with experts across Departments to grow the number of people we reach. You’ll manage the media team (comprised of you and a Media Spokesperson) while also providing support to our senior leaders and experts who speak in the media.

You’re a powerful communicator and a creative thinker who will use every tool at your disposal to work behind-the-scenes to get CHOICE’s messages in front of the right audiences. You know what makes the media tick and how to use the right outlet to deliver maximum impact. You’re calm in a crisis but spend most of your time planning to deliver a release or media package that’s high-quality and already accounts for risks.

We need you to deliver a media engagement strategy that:

  • Identifies the best expert spokespeople to deliver our key messages and equips them with high-quality support.
  • Means CHOICE builds long-term relationships with key journalists and producers.
  • Delivers media coverage that helps CHOICE help more people or directly reach and influence decision makers.
  • Sets up a media monitoring system to measure our impact.
  • Helps other teams at CHOICE plan to deliver email, social or other communications to align with work in the external media.
