Grand Publishing is one of North Queensland's most well-known marketing and media agencies. Our flagship publication, PakMag is now in its 12th year and we have a range of other custom publications under our belt.

We are hiring for 2 positions to expand our team and allow us to further diversify our offerings.

Position 1: Content and Marketing Manager

The purpose of this role is to:

  • Coordinate and deliver high quality publications based on the strategic direction provided by the leadership team;
  • Coordinate and deliver highly engaging digital content to engage a wider audience with the brand;
  • Develop, implement and execute marketing strategies and provide direction for PakMag’s major events and promotional activations;
  • Provide leadership to a team of creatives to ensure content and marketing KPIs are being met;
  • Identify areas for business improvement through coordination with the Sales Team Leader.

The above is achieved through the following performance expectations.

Content Coordination

  • Provide direction for monthly PakMag Magazine, including briefing all content, coordinating with writers, managing deadlines, content quality control and final design approval.
  • Provide direction for PakMag’s bimonthly digital magazine, including coordinating with writers, organising interviews and developing content strategy in line with business objectives.
  • Coordinate Grand Publishing’s other publications by providing content direction, managing content and contributors and developing plan of action for brand new projects.
  • Develop and oversee digital content plan (blogs and social media) to build online audience.

Marketing and Promotions

  • Manage PakMag’s major promotions including delivering recurring promotions, providing direction for staff involved in the process and developing concepts for new promotions.
  • Manage PakMag’s annual events including coordinating internal and external suppliers, developing marketing strategies and post-event reporting.
  • Managing partnerships and sponsorships with local businesses and community organisations.
  • Identifying opportunities for PakMag and Grand Publishing’s other brands to gain more exposure locally and nationally.
  • Provide direction for PakMag’s marketing including coordinating e-newsletters, video content, sales collateral and media releases

The Ideal Candidate

The role would suit someone with marketing management, project management and/or business development experience. Experience in marketing would be desirable.

Selection Criteria

  • Business focused; It is vital that the person in this role is able to think with the business’ best interests in mind; being able to identify opportunity and seize it is an essential skill.
  • Hyper-organised and adaptable; With the number of moving parts in our business, the ideal candidate should be extremely organised, but more than that, they should be able to understand how when one cog turns, it may affect another, and they must be able to think quickly and use their initiative to decipher the best course of action.
  • Solution-based thinker; We’re looking for a solution-based thinker, someone who can anticipate potential stumbling blocks and put measures in place to mitigate impact.
  • Able to work to deadlines; Being able to keep cool under pressure and work to deadlines, and being able to instil urgency and ensure the fast pace is kept up is vital.
  • A keen eye for detail; The role involves approving final designs and copy to be shared with our readers and clients and hence you must have great English skills and an eye for design.

Position 2 - Marketing to Families Expert

The purpose of this role is to:

  • Generate revenue for the business by providing marketing solutions to local businesses, building and maintaining relationships and providing exemplary customer service.

Job Duties

  • Maintaining a portfolio of clients, ensuring their experience with us is positive and creating an environment that they want to continue to be involved with.
  • Developing marketing strategies for new and existing clients to suit their individual needs and budgets.
  • Finding new business through research and outreach.
  • Meeting monthly KPIs and targets.

The ideal candidate would:

  • have experience in sales
  • have experience in building client relationships
  • have an understanding of marketing
  • have sound written and verbal skills
  • have an positive, can do attitude (essential!)
